Why you should have your eyes checked now
Adult eye care is of paramount importance for maintaining overall health and quality of life.
Regular eye examinations are essential for detecting and addressing potential vision problems and eye diseases at an early stage. Conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated.
Adult eye care is particularly vital as individuals age. Vision changes occur naturally over time, and the risk of developing eye diseases increases with age. Regular eye check-ups enable us to assess visual acuity, screen for eye diseases, and prescribe corrective measures.
Furthermore, comprehensive eye exams can also provide early indications of underlying health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain cancers. By taking proactive steps to maintain good eye health, you can preserve yourr vision, enhance overall well-being, and ensure your independence well into your golden years.

measuring your vision
Industry leading facilities
The traditional approach to eye testing has been proven for generations to be successful, effective, and to provide a balanced, client-led approach to vision testing. You are important, and whilst automated analysis can be useful, it is often too black and white for most clients. Our traditional approach relies on and empathises with you to produce comfortable, balanced vision.
The techniques we use for retinal screening at Arnolds
We have used Optomap Ultra Wide Field imaging technology for the last 20 years to screen a 200-degree field of the retinal surface (most digital cameras offer 40). We understand how important the peripheral retina is, along with central foveal health. What lies beyond is just as important.
Midhurst uses a combined wide-field and OCT screening, while Cowplain is able to offer wide-field alone. Both practices also offer OCT separately.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that provides detailed cross-sectional images of biological tissues. OCT offers numerous benefits, including early detection and monitoring of eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. It aids in precise diagnosis, treatment planning, and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy. OCT also enables better understanding of retinal structures, enhances surgical outcomes, and facilitates personalised patient care, revolutionising ophthalmology practice.
